U.S. PIRG (Public Interest Research Group) has issued an important report contesting highway advocate claims that roads “pay for themselves” with gasoline taxes and other charges to motorists. The report is titled, Do Roads Pay For Themselves? Setting the Record Straight on Transportation Funding, and urges America to weigh the full costs and benefits of our transportation investments and allocate the costs of those investments fairly across society.
To better understand some of the real and difficult transportation choices America must make for the 21st century, see the full report on the U.S. PIRG website.
