Corridor K – Andrews, NC
February 14, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
We are pleased that NCDOT is considering alternatives like to improve the existing road, adding passing lanes, and working within a 2-lane footprint. This would be much less damaging to the forest, our streams, and the mountains, which would also reduce costs. Therefore, “improve existing” could ultimately be the most viable pathway for the needed improvements in transportation!
Environmental considerations need to be taken into account during the development of alternative routes. We want to support improvements that will improve safety and quality of life in western NC, while also protecting what makes our region special. The road shouldn’t cut through undeveloped areas or through trout streams like Jutts Creek. Erosion, sedimentation, and the growth of non-native plants must be minimized, as well as impacts to historically and culturally important sites.
We hope you can attend one of these meetings and tell NCDOT what you think!
